Well, whaddyaknow? A post. Communication from the great beyond. Between being extremely busy and terribly uninspired, I just have let it go.

Saturday night was the 80s party. John and I proceeded to prove that we have minds for trivial details (trivial minds?) by winning three of the contests. Don't think they'll let us play as a team next year.

Sunday was the Brownie "Date with Dad". We went bowling and the girls absolutely reveled in having their dads to themselves. Except for Rhiannon, all the girls in her troop are the youngest, so I don't think they get much, if any, alone time with dad. The dads all seemed to enjoy it too. I made an interesting observation, though. When we do activities that the moms come too, I am always paid in checks. The dads just had cash. Does this mean moms don't trust dads with checkbooks? 'Course, I don't let John have cash either . . .

Monday was recovery from the weekend.

Rhiannon had her First Reconciliation ceremony Tuesday. This could be very useful in a parental kinda way. On Monday night she was again expressing attitude about doing her homework. I told her she would have to confess that to the priest. Man, did she straighten up and fly right. This could be fun.

And tonight I need to make 4 pies: pecan, mocha fudge brownie pie, cheesecake, and chocolate cheesecake. Tomorrow morning I will make my stuffing and roasted sweet potatoes. If I get ambitious, I will post the recipes. If you really want them, the pecan, mocha fudge brownie pie, and the chocolate cheesecake recipe can probably be found by doing a recipe search on Cooking Light's website.

All this and watch Enterprise and West Wing.  See why I haven't posted?

I leave you with some cute comments from kids about marriage (with my comments inserted where I deemed appropriate).

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY?

You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming.
(Oh, yeah, you'll stay married a long time, buddy.)
* Alan, age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with.
(Well honey, you just sit at home and see who God sends to your trailer park.)
* Kirsten, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?

Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then.
(Bite me, kid.)
* Camille, age 10

No age is good to get married at. You got to be a fool to get married.
(Gee, think there is a divorce somewhere in this kid's background?)
* Freddie, age 6

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?

You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids.
(Obviously this kid lives nearby and has seen US.)
* Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?

Both don't want any more kids.
(And they have separate bedrooms, no doubt.)
* Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?

Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough.
(I'm guessing this is a girl who never shuts up.)
* Lynette, age 8

On the first date, they just tell each other lies, and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
(And this is the kid who will find out he is dating girls who are cousins when he goes to the one's family reunion.)
* Martin, age 10

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR?

I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns.
(Why limit it to dates? There are SO many days I would like to do that . . .)
* Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?

When they're rich.
(Wise child. I went to a school full of rich boys and married the one poor one.)
* Pam, age 7

The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that.
(I see a career in law enforcement for this kid.)
* Curt, age 7
